Press Release: Old Stone Jail Opens Saturday June 1st

Old Stone Jail Opens this Saturday, June 1st, 2013

While it won't be quite the same without jailer, Dick Kreitner to kick things off, his legacy lives on with the opening of the Old Stone Jail for the Summer 2013 season. This Saturday, June 1, is opening day for tours of the Old Stone Jail. The hours will be 10am - 1pm, the first Saturday of the month, June through (and including) October. It is free to get in (but donations are always appreciated) and the docents promise to leave the door open so everyone can get back out again!

The Old Stone Jail is located between the Courthouse and 10th street. Many thanks to the Wayne County Commissioners for their permission and the work of the wonderful volunteers who keep this piece of Honesdale History open for tours. If you have questions please contact The Wayne County Historical Society at wchs@ptd.net, call 253-3240 or learn more about the history of the Old Stone Jail at Old Stone Jail .
